Pachmarhi in Madhya Pradesh

Nestled in the Madhya Pradesh in Satpura Range, at a height of 3,500ft, it can be easily reached from Bhopal (around 200 kms away). Its a place full of adventure, excitement and trekking (SHOPPING EXCLUDED)!

Flashback
Its history dates back to 10,000 years back. It is beleived the Pandavas of Mahabharta lived here while in exile hence the name Pachmari – PACH – Five and Marhi – The Caves. Pahmarhi was discovered by Captain Forsyth followed the Brave Queen Laxmi Bai into the dark forests of Satpura. Years after his promotion to higher ranks he converted this land into a hill station.

Pachmarhi at its Best

Satpura National Park - Look out for some beauties here like the gaur, sambar, barking deer, hornbills, kingfisher, leopard. Its a beautiful place here, walking or on a safari, tread the wilds and enjoy the thrill of adventure along with your children.
But then its not a one day game here, It takes at least three days ( it cannot be completed in one day either) to see the entire park even on a jeep safari. So be packed for a THREE DAY ACTION!

Mahdeo Hills – A pilgrimage centre, its goes with the mythological story of Lord Shiva (God of Destruction) tricking the demon Bhimasur to Death. And there is also this cave known as Jata Shankar cave resembling the locks of Lord Shiva.

Dorothy Deep – Want to see some pre – historic paintings? Then go to Dorothy Deep. Here you will find those lovely and very antique man made paintings which are rare in every sense. Its an experience not to be missed out.

Pandav Caves – If you have heard about the great Indian mythology Mahabharata, then this is the place you must visit. Its those caves where the Pandavs lived there lives while in exile. Dating back to around 10,000 BC, these depict the colors of animal hunting senes, warriors with their shields, demons, magicians, and so on. Its better to take bicycle while on the track to Pandav caves.

Bee Falls – The natural beauty dosen’t go far, its near in the form of various which surround you while you are here. Look out for this natural beauty on a jeep safari. There near to the Bee falls is the Big Falls with all its charm. As you take few more steps there is the Duchess Falls but mind you, this one is for the dare devils only, for its not so easy yo reach near the Duchess!

Doopgardh Summit – Watch the Satpura jungles change color from yellow to vermilion. Its a play of colors here not to be seen alone!



Where and Why

There are number of places to visit. Began your journey with a visit to the ages old caves, watch the place which marks the discovery of this destination and also its dating. From here move on to the Pandav Caves. Anyone who has heard the name Mahabharata will definitely like to see the place where the Pandavas lived. Take some photographs here to mark your presence.

Its not that only the history bekons here – its also for those who love trekking and love to admire the beauty of nature. Track on to the Mahedo hills and take the blessing of the lord Shiva. Move on to the number of falls waiting for you – the Bee falls, the Dutchess and the Big Falls. Sit by their side to see the water falling by.

In the last do not forget to take a three days trip to Satpura National Park. Don’t miss the excitement! So if you are planning your tour to Panchamarhi, just don'r forget to take atleast 4- 5 days vacations to enjoy the jam packed adventure.
